This book only covers a few key heroes and heroines from the rich history of the First Black Republic of the Caribbean and the voice of a present day hero, Guy Philippe. It comprise of a brief story of Haiti’s enslaved patriarchs and matriarchs’ resilience, revolution, and triumph from the oppression of colonialism and becoming the First Free Black Republic in the world. It has been 220 years since this inspiration of freedom and equality gaining Haiti their independence under the leadership of Dessalines.
